Spitfire Micro Goniopora Details
The Spitfire Micro Goniopora is a beautiful red goni with yellow centers. Being a micro-goni, the heads and tentacles stay very small and tight.
Frag size may vary, but should be about 1/2" - 1".
Spitfire Micro Goniopora Care
The Spitfire Micro Goniopora is an LPS coral with long stalks, with polyps on the end, that come out of a dome-shaped skeleton. Gonis can be relatively difficult for some depending on manganese and molygdanum levels. Typically the Spitfire Micro Goniopora can be maintained with frequent water changes, but you can dose supplements if needed.
What are the lighting requirements for Spitfire Micro Goniopora?
Spitfire Micro Goniopora are a "Low Light" coral. I keep Spitfire Micro Goniopora between 50 and 100 PAR, ideally on 75 PAR.
Lighting Categories
| Category | PAR |
| Low Light | 0 - 75 |
| Average / Medium Light | 75 - 125 |
| High Light | 125 - 250 |
| Very High Light | 250 - 400 |
| Extreme Light | 400+ |
What are the flow requirements for Spitfire Micro Goniopora?
Flow is rather difficult to measure and is more of a described value rather than measured. Spitfire Micro Goniopora need enough flow to to appear as though the stalks are swaying in a gentle breeze. Keep the flow low enough that the Spitfire Micro Goniopora isn't closing nor blown fully in 1 direction.
Where should Spitfire Micro Goniopora be placed in the aquarium?
Based on the lower light and low flow requirements, Spitfire Micro Goniopora are typically placed on the sand bed or lower in the tank.
What are Spitfire Micro Goniopora feeding requirements?
Spitfire Micro Goniopora will eat smaller foods on occasion, especially foods like Goni power, Reef Roids, and Amino Acids. I wouldn't recommend daily feeding, but once or twice a week will improve their success.
What are the Spitfire Micro Goniopora dosing requirements?
Spitfire Micro Goniopora have calcium skeletons, so they do rely on a stable alkalinity and calcium level. Alkalinity levels between 8dKh and 10dKh should all be okay, as long as the calcium level doesn't change more than 0.5dKh in a single day. Standard calcium levels between 350 and 450 ppm is sufficient.
What are the temperature requirements for Spitfire Micro Goniopora?
Gonis prefer average reef tank temperatures between 76 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit, with 78 degrees being the average.
