How to Prevent Acropora Red Bugs

As the name suggests. acropora red bugs, focus on eating acro frags and colonies. The best prevention method is to dip all of you coral, especially acros, in Coral RX Coral Dip and/or Beyer (BioAdvanced) Insect Killer before adding them to your reef tank. Additionally, quarantining the corals before adding them to your reef to ensure there are no pests will help prevent acropora red bugs.

How to Get Rid of Acropora Red Bugs

The best way to get rid of acropora red bugs is to treat acros in a separate quarantine tank with Interceptor. This is a dog medication and requires a prescription from a vet. Interceptor may kill other invertebrates in the reef tank, and as such, you need to treat the coral in a separate tank. Others have had success with continuous dipping in Beyer (BioAdvanced) Insect Killer every couple of day.

Neither of these methods will kill the acropora red bug eggs. As such, you will need to keep treating until the red bugs are gone completely.

What Eats Acropora Red Bugs

The only thing that is known to eat acropora red bugs are the Dragonface Pipe Fish. These fish are much like seahorses and may be difficult to keep in a reef tank. Some people have reported six line wrasse, melanurus wrasse and filefish eating acropora red bugs, but this is not common.
